Director Nicholas "Nick" Hughes was appointed to the Pass Area Recreation and Park District Board of Directors in 2026 following the untimely passing of his father, longtime Board Director Dan Hughes. Raised in Beaumont, Nick grew up participating in local recreational programs, including Beaumont Youth Baseball/Softball at Noble Creek Regional Park. He continues his family's legacy of community involvement and dedication to public service.

As both a former District employee and longtime volunteer, Nick has played an important role in supporting District operations, particularly in public safety and emergency response. He has been instrumental in coordinating the use of Noble Creek Regional Park for fire camps and Incident Command Posts (ICPs) during regional emergencies. His commitment to public safety remains a central focus of his service on the Board.

Nick is actively involved in numerous community organizations, including the Beaumont Lions Club, Boys & Girls Club, and Cherries of the Pass Foundation, and currently serves as President of the San Gorgonio Pass Rotary Club. With nieces and a nephew growing up locally, many of whom participate in youth sports, Nick maintains a personal connection to the recreational opportunities the District provides. He regularly attends community events and remains committed to representing the District's interests while supporting the safety, well-being, and recreational needs of the community.
